Slander Against Muslim Communities Miss the Mark
Sultan Muhyuddin Sayyid Mubarik Ali Gilani Open Letters to the World Community IQOU International Relief Organization

Let me say, without hesitation, that the One God has sent a blessing to us all, Muslims and non Muslims, in the person of Sultan Mohyuddin Syed Mubarik Ali Shah Gilani. The line between Muslim and non-Muslim was slim. We had shahada (affirmation of the Oneness of God), we wore different clothes, but the ghetto was still in us -- our behavior did not reflect our professed "way of life", Islam. The Creator sent us the answer to our du'a--someone to teach us and correct us and allow us to be a reflection of what we were meant to be. He did not come to us asking -- he came giving. His suitcases were emptied as he paid off credit card debts; delinquent rents and utility bills. He showed us respect, will not be offered; it has to be earned. We left the welfare rolls. We raised money by selling our entrapments. We left the tenements and the ghettos. We took our children from schools where they were being taught how to fornicate, end up single parents back on welfare, and took responsibility for their education. Now we have nurturing two-parent families, doctors, lawyers, teachers and engineers -- productive, tax paying members of society. We've learned to bond, share, give, give back and not ask. Maybe that's why he's so hated. We are no longer satisfied with the bottom run of their ladder. We're climbing our own ladder. His Umm Zahid Qadri
He taught me to “practice Islam with sincerity, in letter and spirit” and that “hearts are won with love” This is overwhelming and very emotional for me to relate how my blessed Murshid Kamil Sultan Mohyuddin Syed Mubarik Ali Shah Gilani has impacted my life. It is through him that I found the way to live a truly successful life in this world and the hereafter. He lifted me up out of the darkness of misguidance and gently, with much love, generosity, kindness, tolerance, patience, understanding, indeed with every imaginable excellent quality that the task demands, did he revive, educate and inspire me. Even up to today, he constantly bestows, for the sake of Allah, by the Mercy of the Almighty, his unconditional love and guidance, inviting all to truth and goodness, be he Muslim or non Muslim, without asking or expecting anything in return. He taught me to “practice Islam with sincerity, in letter and spirit” and that “hearts are won with love”; that we must live as honorable, self respecting, dignified and productive members of society, exemplifying the luminous, noble conduct of the Holy Last Messenger Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (peace and blessings of Allah be on him). He means so much to me that I cannot find the proper words to express my love and gratitude. In every corner of my life, he is present; a lantern of light, showering me always with his love and guidance. He nurtures me spiritually in a way that even my parents or no one would ever have been able to. In his teachings, one finds opened the doors to eternal life. He holds the elixir of life. When you follow him, he will wipe away all your fears and introduce you to a brilliant new life of Allah consciousness. He is a very exalted and very special personality, the most perfect Murshid and the finest and best man on the face of the Earth. Shukr Allah, thank you, my dear Murshid, for everything. Although I was raised Muslim my entire life, being around him I learned the true beauty of Islam for the first time! When I hear of the negative remarks that have been stated against my blessed Murshid, it offends me greatly. A few years ago I may not have cared so much but as of Oct 22nd 2005 I have come to care a great deal. In October of 2005 I had the opportunity to go to Pakistan to provide medical relief for the victims of the earthquake that devastated many parts of an area referred to as the Southwest territory. I was initially excited about this trip because my medical school was allowing me to use this as an away rotation. Additionally I thought this experience would enhance the appeal of my CV (which is like a resume). Arriving in Pakistan all I could think about was what a wonderful medical experience this would be. Little did I know that by the end of the journey I would come away with so much more! This realization started on my first meeting with my Murshid. Upon my arrival to his house I was invited in to sit and offered fruit. We began talking about what lied ahead for the team of doctors and nurses that had been assembled to deliver the much needed medical care to many indigent people affected by the catastrophe. He told us to be gentle, show compassion and treat anyone who comes regardless of RELIGION, creed, or socioeconomic status. He said that taking care of people in this way means so much to Allah (SWT) and that He would be very pleased with our efforts. I was a bit surprised because I initially thought I was going to help primarily other Muslims. Needless to say I warmed to him very quickly and over the course of our 6 week journey, I listened to all that he said. I was so impressed at his degree of compassion and level of commitment in helping all of mankind! Although I was raised Muslim my entire life, being around him I learned the true beauty of Islam for the first time! I cannot impress upon you the change that being in his presence has caused, but I will say that I DO KNOW that I DO NOT want to return to the person that I was before I met him. A person who constantly fell into the traps and temptations of the accursed Shaitan! I can only hope that the lessons he taught me last me the rest of my life! I went there to help people but realized that the main person I helped was myself. I want to leave anyone reading this with one last thing. You can never really know a person until you have made their acquaintance and at least had a conversation with them. I PROMISE that if you ever have the opportunity to do so, you WILL find it IMPOSSIBLE to say a negative thing about this truly wonderful human being!!!! Dr. Jemille Wasi
