Striving for Humanity Rabia Aslam reports the selfless services of American Muslim doctors and volunteers in the quake-ridden areas
A HIGHLY EXPERIENCED and dedicated team of American Muslim doctors, paramedics and relief volunteers are taking care of patients at Ayub Medical Hospital Complecx, Abbottabad. They have also sent tents, food and medicines to Azad Kashmir and Mansehra area. The first batch arrived fifteen days ago it was headed by Dr. Naeema from California. The team is treating critical cases such as burns, amputations and surgeries as well as general care.
Disregarding personal comfort and needs, the Americans have won over hearts of patients and have set an example before local staff. They distributed sweets and juices to the patients on Eid while the relief wing working under Syed Shafaat Gilani and Muhammad Atiq Shahid Ameriki has personally delivered and sent tents, foods, medical supplies and other relief goods to various locations in Azad Kashmir and Mansehra Area. Simultaneously, in the US, small. girls have been collecting relief funds by selling pillow covers and candies while their mothers sewed hundreds of bed sheets for hospitals, when they found out that many hospitals are short of linen. Ayub Complex was donated a lot of medicines, surgical gloves, bed sheets, and surgical instruments; all that is being done under the directions of the Vice Chancellor, of the International Quranic Open University ( I Q O U), El Sheikh Syed Mubarik Ali Gilani Qadri who had earlier sent teams of Muslim Boy Scouts at 911 ground zero and the New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Since American Muslims follow the sufic aspect of Islam, therefore, they love all the creatures of Allah and render help to all irrespective of colour, creed or religion.
The third batch of specialists and plastic surgeons has also arrived to treat burnt children, followed by a ten-member mountain rescue team belonging to the hiking and mountaineering club of the I Q O U. This team reached in the first week of December, their goal was to reach and help people on high mountains, which are inaccessible due to mountain slides, which have also made helicopter landing impossible. “Oh, mankind seek forgiveness of One Almighty God (Sheikh Gilani).
By changing, denying or ignoring Devine Law one cannot escape from the ill consequences of sins.
When God created mankind and the world He also made a Law, which so far nobody has been able to escape it period.
The Old Testament contains the Ten Commandments forbidding people from committing polytheism, adultery, murder etc. The same law with more clarity has been included in the Holy Quran for all mankind. After the horrible havoc played by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and recent earthquakes in Pakistan, why don’t people open their eyes, ears, and hearts, or just take a look back in the entire history of mankind, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes and floods were sent only to rebellious communities in the past. Each sin carries its corresponding punishment. When innocent people are murdered and the blood of these victims fall on the earth, the earth shivers with fear of Allah, then Allah sends His Azaab or Wrath. When open rebellion, adultery, withholding of, homosexuality occurs, it brings on Allah’s Wrath, in the form of riots, floods, and famine.
This is the immutable law of Allah, which no-one can escape. It is a matter of common sense that people must stop such crimes mentioned above and seek forgiveness of One God so that His wrath may cease and His pleasure be earned.
It will not be out of place to mention that most of the staff and students of the IQOU knew before hand about these catastrophes but they did not know about the location of the earthquake. Please take heed! Take it as a warning or a reminder that if individual and collective forgiveness of God is not sought, particularly by the ruling class, something worse can happen, and azaab (wrath) from above. This is why thousands of times people area being jolted (in after shocks) hoping they might turn unto Him in complete humility seeking forgiveness.
Unfortunately, so far no one is prepared to accept as Divine Wrath and what to talk of Tauba? For the past twenty-five days, the Vice Chancellor along with his team from the International Quranic Open University have been and still are in the field helping people and seeking forgiveness of God. May Allah save the rest of Pakistan. Ameen.
